About Me

Hey, there, I’m Julie.

I’m a Virginia girl who is a farmer’s wife and the mom to three kids that share my genetics, one that shares our home. I also get to be mom to a herd of cows, a handful of chickens, two dogs and a cat. I love to read, entertain family and friends in our remodeled farm house and under the tent at tailgates, where I cheer on my beloved Virginia Tech Hokies at Lane Stadium.

I love clean linens just off the line  (I actually don’t have a clothesline; I hang them over the fence), fresh hay just out of the baler, and skillet apple pie just out of the oven. The spectacular mountains surrounding my home and smiling faces surrounding my dining room table make me happy, too.

I have a degree in Mathematics that doesn’t really mean that much to me. I’m not even sure why I have it, but it has come in handy over the years as I taught a few classes and shed a few tears with my own homeschooled kids.

Whatever life hands me, I write about it. I never considered myself a writer and didn’t really enjoy it until I homeschooled my children through the middle and high school years and I helped them learn how to write. Since then I’ve been hooked.

Writing is therapy for me. It helps me reach to the depths of my heart and wrap my brain around all that I feel. Sometimes what I feel doesn’t align with what I know, and I have to ask God to reconcile that for me. Not only does he do that through his Word, he does it as I write.

Over the years, I’ve learned way more from my struggles than I ever did from my strengths. Most things that I ever tackled in my own strength ended up broken. But, God has redeemed those broken places and strengthened me beyond what I ever dreamed possible.

Thank you for visiting. If you were in my home, I’d offer you a spot at our table and some country cooking.

Stay awhile. I’m glad you’re here.
